What's Going Through The Intersection of Insurance and Technology?

Some insurers and industry groups are promoting adaptation strategies, including modifications to insurance programs. The Insurance-Canada.ca sponsored Insurance 2023 Working Group is discussing the role that technology is and will play in supporting insurers. Our question: how is climate change impacting your business now and what do you anticipate in the future?

Zen and the Art of Data Ownership
Data ownership has always been a hot topic with insurers, distributors, data providers, and policy holders claiming right to some or all of the data. The volume of the discussion of this has risen with the increase in importance of data to the profitability of the business. An alternative is emerging which sounds a bit zen-like: “Because everyone owns it, it belongs truly to no one.” We'd like to know what you think.

Joe's Corner:

It's been an interesting few days. I got to thinking that maybe the group that wanted to “run the bulls” down Bay St. may have had better success by getting into the “maim and gore” of Black Friday — it would have had more participants, I think. A strange way to kick off the season of Peace and Joy.

Speaking of kick-off, Toronto finally got a team who won a major sports championship (Rock fans please remain calm, that's not an insult) and it only took 20 years since Joe hit the big one. A championship gained and a footballer mayor lost? Makes you wonder . . . .
