The Financial Services Commission of Ontario Introduces on-line
Licensing.
FSCO introduces the second phase of its Internet Application
System, a project that supports the Ontario government’s e-business
initiative. The Internet Application System (IAS) is fast, secure
and convenient. Effective July 15, 2002, your staff will be able to
sponsor new agents over the Internet, and prospective new agents
will be able to apply for a licence on-line, 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. Licences for qualified agents will be issued a few days
later, after the completion of background checks. More at

CSIO Insurance Portal
Week ending July 19: Testing and implementation continues on all fronts. The ISI rating function for the portal was loaded onto the portal last weekend and testing with it is now underway. More rates continue to be received and loaded by ISI.

Increases.
Kingsway Financial Services Inc. today announced that it has
obtained approval from the Financial Services Commission of Ontario
(‘FSCO’) to implement increased rates and to eliminate certain
rating classes for Private Passenger Automobile Business offered by

Electronic trading in the reinsurance industry has gained a
growing acceptance in recent months according to new membership

Banks Have an Opportunity to Increase Life Insurance Sales, LIMRA
Reports.
Banks can capture a larger share of the life insurance market,
particularly among emerging-affluent customers. But first they need
to show consumers that banks can meet their insurance needs,
according to the results of a consumer survey by LIMRA

Manulife Bank of Canada offers competitive, lower fixed rate on
Manulife One
Manulife One, Canada's first and only flexible mortgage account,
will now offer significantly lower rates for its "fixed-rate"
component. This innovative account, which uses a variable rate along
with account holders' income to help dramatically lower mortgage
interest costs, also enables them to lock in a portion of their
mortgage at fixed-rates, if they're worried variable rates might

Sysinct Implements a Paperless Customer Service Environment at
McGriff Seibels & Williams.
Sysinct was challenged with providing a technology solution that
would eliminate the printing and filing of 40,000 policyholder
documents each month, while simultaneously cross-referencing all
policyholder information and making it available on the desktop. The
solution should manage the documents throughout a policy's life
cycle.

Progressive.com Named #1 Insurance Carrier Web site by Gomez for the
Sixth Consecutive Period.
The evaluations are complete and the Web site ranked number one
on the Second Quarter 2002 Gomez Internet Insurance Carrier
Scorecard is progressive.com, making the site the only one to be
named "#1 Insurance Carrier Web site" six consecutive times.

North American Life Insurance Activity Drops Slightly in June:MIB.
Consumer applications for life insurance in the U.S. and Canada
were off 2 percent in June as compared with the same period last
year. Activity among Canadian insurers increased 2.4 percent over
June 2001 levels, however these gains were offset by declining
activity in the U.S. of 2.5 percent, dampening overall results. More

Online Education Usage in Canada: e-marketer.
According to a Q1 2002 online education study from Ipsos-Reid,
25.3% of internet users in Canada have searched online for
e-learning courses, though only 7.5% have actually taken an online
course. Additionally, Ipsos determined that 23.8% have researched
offline classes at traditional institutions online. More at
